DRESSING FOR COMFORT AND CONFIDENCE
Whether it’s a tie or a new pair of shoes, a new coat or even a new hairstyle; we all have done things to feel confident or comfortable at some point in our lives. Some people find this comfort through clothing and their style of dress. Some dress to feel confident, while others dress to feel comfortable. But is it possible to do both? Absolutely. The key is in the attitude you have towards fashion and your own individual style. The more one embraces their own personal style and create looks to impress themselves first, the more one feels comfortable in what they buy and wear.
There are also things you can do to make sure you maximize your comfort level when it comes to clothing. As a person working in retail, I highly encourage people to try clothing on before purchasing. I have often witnessed someone buy something simply because it looks nice, and then return it because it didn’t fit properly. While shopping, remember to try on clothing and make sure it fits in the area and the way you want it too. In addition, certain pieces of clothing can ignite different moods in a person. Certain clothing can influence our thoughts and actions by the way they make us feel. So take the time to make sure that you and that shirt make a good pair. However, not being so cautious can work in one’s favor as well.
When we take fashion risks and explore different styles, we end up leaving our comfort zone. That can’t be done without confidence. Once people see how confident you are with your style and look, they begin to acknowledge it. With your confidence now confirmed, you begin to become more comfortable with how the clothes make you feel, your look and yourself. That is what is known as having “swagger”. Strangely, leaving our comfort zone can help us better experience and raise our comfort level.
